Hello April.... Be good to me :D

Hello April! My favourite month is here again 😍

March 2017 was eventful; I had the most painful inversion injury, still missing my late sister terribly, then involved in my first car accident (hopefully the last too) 😭

Malang tak berbau...Who knows crossing a street can makes you fall down and sprained both ankle 😭 A lot people asked me how did I sprain BOTH ankles but seriously, I have no idea....I couldn't even stand right after the incident....most painful inversion injury ever...Then my feet were swollen and being nicknamed as 'pig legs' by my brother 😂😂😂

March-April also means the season to remember and honour our loved ones who have passed away. This year's Qing Ming festival (Tomb-Sweeping Day) was particularly special and emotional for me because, this is also the first Qing Ming with my late sister...I am still missing her terribly...still couldn't let go...still couldn't believe she's gone... 😢

The Inaugural Brown Bag Series by 1 Utama; thoughful feel-good workshops that matter

I was tremendously excited when 1 Utama announced on its Facebook page on this exciting "Brown Bag Series" workshop. And thus I quickly registered myself to attend the very first workshop, held on the 3rd November, and was limited to 40 participants only. So what is this "Brown Bag Series"?

The "Brown Bag Series" is a series of energizing, feel-good Health & Wellness workshops organized by 1 Utama every month with event partner Cold Storage. The workshops are introduced with the objective of providing the participants fun activities to learn from so that they can walk away with healthy tips to apply to daily lives.

Now....why was I so excited on this "Brown Bag Series" workshop?

✿ Ever since I was diagnosed with critical illness, I have been more conscious on health, especially on the food that I consume. Less salt, less meat, less processed food, more fruits, more vegetables. So this workshop would give me some great healthy tips for my daily diet.

Historical 6 January...Concern? Yes. Worry? No!

6 January one year ago, I was admitted to the hospital to undergo an investigation surgery as part of the diagnosis on my illness. By insurance term, my illness, if reach the end stage, is considered as one of the 36 critical illness or dread disease.

Which means, if my illness goes untreated or unattended that it reaches the end stage, I would be able to claim my insurance benefit without needing to wait until the policy matures lol...but would a normal person want his/her illness to reach the end stage?

No, nobody wouldn't....and I definitely wouldn't...but one thing about my illness, as far as I understand from my doctor, is...it's incurable. No medication or surgery, in the current medical technology, that able to cure this illness thus far...

The only option I have therefore, is to control the symptom and maintain a healthy lifestyle, in order to slow the disease progress. That means, I need to take some medications to control the symptom. I need to consume some supplement religiously to boost my immunity. I need to cut down on salt and meat intake to prevent further damage.

10 Toxic People You Shouldn't Bring With You Into The New Year
Credit: http://elitedaily.com/life/toxic-people-new-year/879975/

Can you believe that it’s already December? This year has flown by in the blink of an eye and we’re on the verge of yet another year — a year full of possibility.

What you will accomplish next year greatly depends on the people you surround yourself with. Or, in other words, it greatly depends on which people you decide not to surround yourself with.

When bringing in the new year, be sure not to bring all your garbage with you. Leave these toxic individuals in 2014; you’ll feel much lighter, allowing you to get a great running start on the year to come.

My health warrior - bloop Germ Blaster!!!!

I work with computer a lot. I think most people do now; it's the digital era anyway ^_^ For me though, working with computer is really bread and butter because, I'm working in the IT industry; designing software application to be exact. If not working with computer, what else? haha....

Thus.....I'm constantly exposed to a host of potentially harmful bacteria, germs that carry the flu or that nasty stomach virus!!! Ewww...... and in case you are not aware, your toilet seat is cleaner than your computer keyboard!!! In a study funded by The Clorox Company, it was found that, the office desk harbors far more bacteria than the workplace restroom, and if you're a woman, chances are your workspace has more germs than your male co-workers =.=" (source: The Clorox Company)

Constantly cleaning and sterilizing your keyboard aside, it's very important too to take care of your hands, which touch the keyboard most. Always remember to wash your hand with soap and water, and also use hand sanitizer for on-the-go.

As for me, bloop Germ Blaster is my new health warrior and trusted travel partner ^_^ I have been bringing this cute little bottle along in my purse for the past week, and I can't help stop thinking how convenient it is to have the little bottle everywhere I went.

Kidney Disease - A Silent Killer!!

During the trip to hospital yesterday for my monthly check up, I came across a mini exhibition on kidney disease, and I thought it's good to share...Kidney disease is indeed a silent killer; usually a patient would only know that he/she has this disease at a very late stage. By the time the patient discovers about the disease, it would be most probable already at Stage 4 or 5. Stage 5 would require the patient to undergo dialysis.

As what we have learned in science class, kidneys have many important functions that ensure the overall health of a human being. Both kidneys work non-stop to remove harmful wastes and excessive fluids. Kidneys also help to regulate the blood pressure and red blood cell production, beside maintaining the body's internal overall environment.

Living towards a Healthy Lifestyle - even when eating out at Mamak Stalls!!

Ever since I was diagnosed with a disease that need me to be on long term medications, I become more concern on health and well-being, especially on the food I consume. I am now very particular on the type of food I eat, and also be more cautious on the ingredients even in any medicines or supplements. I am also in the process of improving my lifestyle to a healthier one for the overall well-being of me...I would share with you progressively, and thus I have added a category 'Healthy Living' (instead of only ‘Marathon’)  to cover a wider scope on living towards a healthy lifestyle...erm, perhaps there's a better name than 'Healthy Living'? Share with me your suggestions (=^-ω-^=)

Recently, I read an article on how to eat healthily in a mamak stall...yes, mamak food stall!! Among the favourite gathering venue for Malaysians from all walks of life!! I used to be skeptical on the food I consumed at mamak stall as unhealthy, partly because I have always ordered maggi goreng (which is delicious yet can be very oily), the hot ayam goreng, the fluffy roti canai or roti telur with the appetizing kuah kari ikan and the savory nasi lemak with telur mata kerbau... For the past few months though, I have cut down trips to mamak stall and even stopped eating those heavenly-delicious-foodie-once-upon-a-time, and instead switch to thosai kosong and teh tarik kurang kurang manis (no, it’s not typo, I really order kurang kurang manis oh...)

Brooks Half Marathon - my First Run in 2013

Ok...I know it's kinda late to post this now...but I wanted to wait for the result first...well, the official result has been revealed yesterday so now I'm sharing my insight on this marathon now ^^

I have always like to run at Bukit Jalil...Passing across the nice houses and wide road, running at Bukit Jalil is not something new to me...The first time was Larian Amal Seri Sinar in 2009 and the second was Bareno Run in 2011..So this should be the third time I run at Bukit Jalil...

Although the run is called "Half Marathon", various other categories also available, and as usual, my pick was 10km, hehe ^^

And after months of retiring from marathon, I'm glad that I was able to finish the 10km course at just under 1.5hours!! Happy MooN ^^

Shape Night Run Roar...!!!

Compared to my last previous run, I manage to improve my timing for run this year...I finished 11.8km at about 1hour 45minutes...not bad huh? ^^

But the route for this run was definitely more difficult compared to the StandChart 2012, what more it was a night run (plants respire at night, I have to fight for oxygen =.=") It was up and down the road, cross bridges, circle the lake...I think I have ran really hard to the finishing line lol...

And oh... Men's Health and Shape Night Run is well-known to be giving a lot goodies and sponsored merchandise to the participants...Here's what I got:

Race Kit
Skechers Running Tee
Running Bib Number
Timing Chip

Pardon me for the not-so-nice picture...nicer picture at Shape webpage

Prostate Cancer Awareness Run

The run this morning was organized in conjuntion of the Prostate Awareness Campaign (18 to 20 June) organized by Pusat Perubatan Universiti Kebangasaan Malaysa (PPUKM). Nonetheless, not many people participating (I think there were around 700 runners only for 8 categories available)...perhaps most of the others rather 'save' their energy and stamina for next week's Standard Chartered Marathon...

Before the run, we had some aerobic which was quite fun...the flag off was at 7.45am...My record: about 55 minutes for a distance of 7km...haha, not a good record though, but I was within top 30 so I got a medal ^^
