Hair Beauty and Wellness at Street Love X Aveda "A Pampering Hair Day"

The first Saturday of this month was an eventful day!!! My schedule was full from morning till evening, together with my Sis...Let me tell you why, in this post and also next post, hehe   =^v^=

Since my hair makeover at the Aveda Experience Center, I become very interested with Aveda and wish I could have more!!! (I can't understand why I didn't pick up one or two Aveda products then) So when I knew about Street Love collaboration with Aveda for a hair pampering day, I wasted no time to register my sister and myself for the event  ヽ(^▽^)ノ

Street Love X Aveda "A Pampering Hair Day" *
* Date: 3rd August 2013 (Saturday) *
* Time: 10:30am - 1:30pm *
* Venue: Luxasia Training Center, North Point MidValley *

There were Aveda ritual stations where participants got pampered with Stress-relieving Hand RitualStress-relieving Shoulder Ritual or Stress-relieving Scalp Ritual. I first went to the scalp ritual where Soo Jin brushed my hair with the Aveda Wooden Paddle Brush...this brush is Aveda special brush that helps to reduce stress to hair and scalp during styling...

As the hand and shoulder massage station was having a long queue, Sis and I headed to the vacant table and took our seats...then we were served with the Aveda Comforting Tea...this tea is an organic tea with a soothing blend of licorice root and peppermint...

Talking about licorice....I remembered I bought a lot of licorice candies during a trip to Perth thinking they were chocolates...in the end almost 80% of the candies were thrown away coz no one like the licorice taste (T_T) so yeah, I'm not really fond of this tea...I just don't like the taste   ~(>_<。)

That was Fiona, the author of Street Love, in a loyal blue dress (too far, sorry >.<)....this is my second encounter with her; the first being the Purplish Affair about 2 months ago...

While waiting for the event to start, take photo a while :P

The event officially started with Linda Lin, the General Manager of Aveda (or is it the GM of the company Luxe Professional that brings Aveda to Malaysia?), introducing to us about Aveda.

Our mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society. At Aveda, we strive to set an example for environmental leadership and responsibility, not just in the word of beauty, but around the world.

That was Aveda's mission statement. While it was great, I found it weird that Linda made us to recite the statement together. Oh well....

The word "Aveda" is borrowed from Sanskrit when the founder was introduced with the healing properties of Ayurveda (the traditional Hindu longevity medicine) and aroma. Aveda has products from hair care, skin care to body care. They even have a lifestyle salon in Tokyo that is way too awesome with salon, spa, cafe and shop under one same building   (*≧▽≦) So coooooool right??!!!

Adrian Sin, one of the Aveda Trainer then took over the floor and walked us through the hair biology and structure. He also helped us to understand the hair and scalp concerns and how to mitigate the problem. According to Adrian, it is common for us to lose 150-200 strands of hair daily. But isn't that too much? I thought it was supposed to be below 100 strands lol   ヽ(‘ー`)ノ

The talk eventually led to hair loss problem and there he introduced to us the Aveda Invati System which is a solution for hair loss and thinning. The Aveda Invati System is proven to reduce hair loss by 33% in a clinical test, and is consists of:
  • Invati Exfoliating Shampoo to remove the build-up of sebum and product residue that can clog pores and to renew the scalp,
  • Invati Thickening Conditioner to restore strength and improve hair elasticity and to reduce breakage, and
  • Invati Scalp Revitalizer to help energize and rehabilitate the scalp around the follicles when massaged in.

Adrian also shared with us the hair care tips....the one I like best is "Do not scratch the scalp while shampooing", because I tend to do that  (>.<)

Part of the event agenda was actually a fun activity; the hair styling contest  o(^^o) We have to style their hair, either curl or straight, using the correct Aveda products and styling tools, and then had the opportunity for out photos to be taken . Before that, Adrian briefed us on the Aveda 3 steps styling which is one of the criteria to pass the test.

Step 1: Prep to protect
For straight hair: Prep hair with Smooth Infusion Style-prep Smoother
For curly hair: Prep hair with Be Curly Style-prep

Step 2: Style to set
For straight hair: Apply Smooth Infusion Glossing Straightener and style according to preference
For curly hair: Apply Be Curly Curl Enhancer and style according to preference

Step 3: Finish to fix
For straight hair: Finish the hair with Light Elements Smoothing Fluid
For curly hair: Finish the hair with Be Curly Curl Enhancing Hair Spray

We were also provided tools such as the straightener, curling tong, hair blower, hair clips and brushes for the hair styling activity...

Sis and I finished pretty fast, as we did our hair simple and nice...I mean, on daily basis, it's not like one would spend hours to set her hair, right? It's just not practical in the busy world today, no? So while other girls were still busy playing with their hair, we took pictures around   (◕‿◕✿)

The Invati system!

And then Sis and I had nothing to do...most girls were STILL with their hair, while some were queuing for the photo shooting....and the time was already up long ago...gosh, I think that was a bad time control!!! It's not fair for those who respected the time according to agenda right? We thought of going for the Stress-relieving Hand Ritual or Stress-relieving Shoulder Ritual of which we missed out earlier but there was no one manning the counter >.<"

The Blue Oil Balancing Concentrate which has received many good reviews...

Anyway....after quite some time we were treated with light refreshment at the lounge next door...

Pretty lounge, huh?

The finger foods...

There were also a counter set up showcasing the Aveda products...those were for sales on that day...

Aveda gave us a exclusive promotional offer on that day...but nah, I didn't pick up any...

Then, the contest winners were announced...sorry I don't have the winners' pictures here...winners were chosen based on the correct products used....but how about the time management? Can't understand why this criteria was not considered....and seriously I don't see any difference between before and after? Surely the winning criteria should include like how participants use Aveda products to overcome their hair weakness or something? But aih, I'm not the judge, so...whatever... ┐( ̄ヮ ̄)┌

Anyway, I have learnt a lot on Aveda and enjoyed myself in this exclusive closed-door event. Nevertheless I think the event could be better with a proper time management and event crew on duty.

Oh...to my surprise, there were door gifts for each participant, which made the event even sweeter  (◡‿◡✿)

  4. Losing a few strands of hair daily is a normal phenomenon, which makes space for new hair to grow. However, when your hair fall is alarming, which shows from the amount of hair you lose daily, it is a sign of unhealthy and fragile hair.
